A “Big Night Out” is planned for locals on Saturday, 29 May.

This is your chance to join with friends, relax with a complimentary glass of wine, enjoy a delicious supper and show that you and your team are ‘clever enough’ to win great prizes.

Local sponsors have donated wonderful prizes including local wines, adventure tourism packages, health and beauty products and more.

All that and feel good about contributing to our Cromwell youth.

In its major fundraising activity for 2021, Connect for Cromwell (the home and school connection for Cromwell College) is holding the Big Night Out Quiz and Auction.

The group fundraises to support students. Funds raised do not go to buildings, facilities or staffing – it goes directly into activities and resources for student use.

Recent projects have included providing resources for a sensory room – a place students can calm themselves and reset their emotional and mental state, so that their learning can continue.

They also provide funding for food so that the learning support centre can help students who may need some kai.

Popular with students has been contributions towards recreational facilities like chess boards, basketball hoops and Kapa Haka.

The ‘Sticks and Stones’ programme, literacy programme, Boot Camp and Breakfast in Schools have all benefited from funds raised by the volunteers group.

“We are hoping the community will support our Quiz Night so we continue to support our local teenagers to get the ‘extras’ they deserve and need to be the best they can be during their time at Cromwell College” says Connect for Cromwell member Therese McCombe-Rae.

As a back-up to winning prizes for your team’s great knowledge and superior intelligence, you can try your luck at the silent auction.

Volunteer Jacalyn Tapp, says, ”It’s going to be a great event.  There’s lots of amazing prizes to win and bid on, so bring along some extra cash or your card.”

She adds, “We’re really appreciative of the support we’ve had from local sponsors and look forward to enjoying our Big Night Out.”

For an extra bonus, enjoy being entertained by Terry Davis as MC.
