Masses of fairy lights adorned The Moorings Conference Room last Saturday evening as senior Cromwell College students gathered to enjoy a “Fire and Ice” themed formal.

Arriving in style whether in a fire engine, a 1957 Pontiac Firebird or a comfortable and stylish Audi, students pulled up to a crowd of proud parents and family members as year 10 students ushered their senior comrades into their 2021 formal evening.

The cars dropping students off is just as much of a thrill for spectators as the dresses, hair and fine suits on show.

The social evening gave students an opportunity to dress in their finery and come together to enjoy a buffet dinner, dancing and a popular photo booth.

Long dresses in a wide range of colours were set off perfectly with lash extensions, flawless make-up, glowing tans and strappy shoes.

The boys looked just as dapper in suits.

Corsages sat perfectly on wrists and smiles accompanied the stunning gowns to create perfect photo opportunities for parents and caregivers to treasure for many years to come.

Arriving from 6pm, the Fire and Ice extravaganza went through until 10pm.

There were no crowned kings, queens, princes or princesses this year, each student looked regal as they walked the red carpet into their senior school formal.

The Cromwell College formal committee excelled in creating the theme and organising the high-end affair.

With the 2021 “Fire and Ice” themed formal now behind them, it’s back to the regular school uniform, dowsing the fire and melting the ice in favour of school bags, blazers and folders of work.
