A CO REAP-Cromwell Men’s Shed Partnership

Central Otago REAP and Cromwell Men’s Shed have teamed up to run a course aimed at women who are wanting to learn to repair items around their own homes.

It is, however, open to anyone wanting to acquire some handy home maintenance skills.

The idea for the course came from a group of women who had lost their partners, and they just needed some more knowledge to be able to do some of the things around the home that their partners had done prior to this.

CO REAP Manager, Bernie Lepper, says, “After looking for a tutor I then contacted the Cromwell Men’s Shed and they were outstanding.  Full of enthusiasm and ideas for helping to run the course. This has led to the “Handy Hints” course starting in Cromwell next month. A great collaboration!”

The course is scheduled to start on 6th August, in the REAP rooms at the Cromwell Polytechnic Central Campus, 19 Molyneux Avenue, from 9.30am till 11.30am.

The first session will cover sharpening knives, using glue and solvents, etc and people are asked to bring a knife to practice their new skill, and any item or material that you would like to learn how to glue.

Other mornings will cover such things as engines(cars and lawnmowers), dripping taps, fuses, draining water supply and painting. The sessions are free, through the ACE programme, and you can book your place by contacting CO REAP online at www.coreap.org.nz or by phone on 03 448-6115.
