Local cafe

A 2021 Travellers’ Choice Award and being named as a Hospitality New Zealand Best Cafe finalist has given the team at Fusee Rouge something to be proud of.

The only locally based business to be announced in the running for the Hospitality Awards for Excellence through Hospitality New Zealand, the team admit their standards are high across the entire business.

From the warm greeting waiting for customers, right through to the perfect cup of coffee, the well-loved local cafe is up against two other cafes in Christchurch and Wellington.

Business owner Nicola Brockie couldn’t be prouder of her team and what they have achieved, especially through the last 18 months juggling Covid-19.

“To be announced as one of three cafes throughout the country voted by the judges of the Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence is an exciting place to be.

“We have all worked incredibly hard to reach this point and look forward to bringing home either a bronze, silver or gold award, let’s hope for gold.”

Nicola and cafe manager Alaskia Hansen will travel to a national black-tie dinner in Auckland early September, with the intention of bringing home the gold medal.

“Cromwell boasts the very best cycle trails, wineries and sceneries, why not put cafes on that list too,” Nicola adds.

The cafe has also been announced as a Travellers’ Choice through the popular website Trip Advisor and ranks within the top 10% of cafes worldwide.

Hard work, determination and a great team that is always there for the local community has attributed the teams 2021 successes which just keep coming.

“We are very grateful to our loyal customers and being recognised on such a large scale is heart-warming. We know we go to work each day to make our customers happy and being able to share our accolades with the community is truly the best,” she adds.

The winner of the New Zealand Hospitality Awards for Excellence will be announced at a formal dinner on 9th September.
