By Marion Low – Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group

The Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group (CDPG) have decided to postpone the Cromwell Fireworks and Street Party that was planned for Labour Sunday.

“After discussing the event with the Southern DHB, we felt that this would be the best course of action,” says Kelly Cruickshank-Giles, Community Relationships Manager for the CDPG.

“The new requirements for events under Level 2 were just too much for our group to successfully undertake at this time.”

The CDPG has been running the Cromwell Fireworks and Street Party in its current form for the past four years.

“Community celebrations are important, especially in these trying times,” says Kelly.

“Instead of cancelling the event outright, we have decided to postpone it until after summer.”

The CDPG, together with Connect Cromwell, is also working on another community event for early December to celebrate the holiday season.
