They came from far and wide to attend this year’s bi-annual House and Garden Tour 2021 hosted by the Cromwell Rotary Club and the feedback suggests the tour has been a hit with guests eager to get a look into the latest interiors, exteriors, gardens and landscape ideas for the new season.

Organiser Paula Jackson is over-whelmed with the way the day unfolded seamlessly with the expert help from volunteers including members from the Cromwell Ladies Lions and Rural Woman NZ. Twelve stops which included 13 viewings (2 houses on 1 property) wowed guests throughout last Saturday’s peek into perfection, with 258 tickets sold and over $16,000 raised for K9 Medical Detection NZ. This is a charity organisation aiming to improve the health of all New Zealanders by using specifically trained dogs working in a controlled clinical environment to assist in the detection of cancer and other diseases.

“My heart was in my mouth leading up to the event with a Covid case being found in Christchurch that week, but fortunately everything worked out fabulously,” says Rotarian Paula.

Cromwell Rotary couldn’t be prouder of the efforts from volunteers, the exceptional commitment from sponsors, the hard work from homeowners and the support shown by guests.

“We wish to sincerely thank all those involved in this year’s tour, we couldn’t have done it without the help of sponsors and volunteers, the generosity of homeowners and it was brilliant to welcome all those who were part of the tour,” adds Paula.

Next year Cromwell Rotary will host the much-anticipated Shed Tour, a tour into some hidden treasures nestled through the community.

“It’s a little harder to see a fabulous shed from the street and we welcome anyone who is hiding anything interesting in their shed to get in touch with us.

“Last year we delved into many secret sheds hiding treasures that no-one would know are there, next year we would love to do the same. If you have an interesting, quirky, eclectic or different shed, give me a call, we would love to check it out,” Paula adds.

The next Cromwell Rotary House and Garden Tour will take place in 2023.
