The Extravaganza Fair came, entertained and then went about their way leaving locals with a warm and jolly sense of fun.

The weather could not have been finer for the travelling family fun show in Cromwell last weekend, the sun shone brightly, and smiles were wide with the old school vibe of a family day out.

Sack races, candy floss, live entertainment and tug-of-wars all played their part in ensuring an audience that spanned across generations enjoyed a marvellous day, or two, out.

This was the Extravaganza Fair’s first stop in Cromwell and over 32 stall holders have been overjoyed by the experience of parking up and mingling with locals.

Extravaganza crew member Hannah has loved browsing the Central Otago region having arrived from Invercargill earlier in the week.

“We couldn’t have wished for better conditions, the whole weekend had a light and fun feel about it, we could see the smiles on people’s faces as they browsed stalls, shared lunch with friends and just relaxed into the day.

“We absolutely loved being here and can’t wait to come back,” she said.

As young people enjoyed merry-go-rounds, trampolining and face-painting, older folk indulged in the creative markets, taking an opportunity to find a more unique Christmas gift.

A passion for the environment means the group worked hard to keep waste to a minimum and recycle at every opportunity.

Friendly stall holders chatted away to locals, pleased to talk about a lifestyle on the road, happy to give a glimpse into their tiny homes and eager to learn more about Cromwell.

Monday saw the group of travellers pack up, ready to make their way through to Christchurch with nothing and no-one left behind, except happy memories from the day the Extravaganza Fair came to town.
