The annual National Cherry Stone Spitting Championships will be held on Tuesday, 28 December at The Gate on Barry Avenue.

This quirky annual festival is always a hit with locals and visitors alike and is a great way to get out and enjoy the warm Central Otago sunshine.

The competition is open to all entrants young and old with registrations opening at 11:30am.

“The event is free to attend,” says Kelly Cruickshank-Giles, Community Relationships Manager for the Cromwell Promotions. “A gold coin donation will be welcomed as entry fee for the competition.”

If stone spitting isn’t your thing, you can show off your artistic talent in the colouring competition. The Cherry Festival always proves to be a barrel of laughs for all, so come on down and join in the fun from 11:30 am till 1:30 pm.
