The warm glow of a candle brings comfort, hope and peace,
Each year, as Christmas nears, we have an opportunity to pay tribute to those we love who have died.
Kotuku Funerals is hosting a Candle Lighting and Memorial Service to honour the memory of those who have passed throughout the year.
“We all have memories of wonderful Christmas days and holidays together which is why this time of year can be very difficult for those who have experienced loss.
“Coming together to remember loved ones allows us a moment of reflection, to be still, recognise our loss, to show support and strengthen each other.
‘The simple act of spreading light in our loved ones name brings moments of comfort helping to light the way a little’ says funeral director Leigh-Anne Fox.
Candle lighting and a small memorial service will be followed by light refreshments, and a little Christmas joy.
“This is our first year in business and both Leigh-Anne and I wish to acknowledge those families and friends who we know, will be finding this time of year difficult.
“If family members are unable to attend, we will light a candle in their loved one’s memory.
“Unfortunately death is something we all experience at some time and special days like birthdays and Christmas can be particularly hard, sometimes just reflecting for a moment is all we can do,” adds Glennys Logan, funeral celebrant and director.
The service is also an opportunity for both Glennys and Leigh-Anne to thank those who have trusted them to care for their families and loved ones through very difficult times.
“This is our first Christmas and we would like to acknowledge the support from families, and take a moment ourselves to recognise those who have died, many of whom we knew personally,” adds Glennys.
The Kotuku Funerals Candle Lighting and Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, 15 December, at 5.30pm at Kotuku Funerals, 15 Chardonnay St, Cromwell.
