On the 25th November at 08.30hrs a local Cromwell RSA team of volunteers started working on cleaning the headstones and graves of the service members interred in the Cromwell Cemetery.
They completed nine of the hundred and eleven that were identified as requiring cleaning over the next few months. There will be a succession of short working parties to achieve their mission.
Over 350,000 men and women left our shores to do their duty and their service and sacrifice should never be forgotten.
It is heartwarming to witness the respect and empathy exhibited by the team as they talk to the souls interred, “g’day mate sorry to bother you, I’m just here to clean you up a bit…”
