Support Sebastian

Cromwell Youth Trust is calling on the generosity of the local community to help in a very special cause.  It is to support one of our local youth and his family during a very challenging and exhausting experience.

Sebastian Mcfarlane is an incredibly strong and courageous 11-year-old who is battling a brain stem tumour that has returned for a second time in his young life.

Sebastian is a regular with the local youth organisation, and Youth Worker, Fran Dustin, says, “Some of the challenges this local family are facing can range from extensive travel on a weekly basis to Dunedin for Sebastian to go through his chemotherapy, and the ongoing expenses of fuel and accommodation, as well as the pressure to cook meals after an exhaustive 24-48 hours.”

Fran is encouraged by the local people and businesses that are already supporting Sebastian and his family, saying, “It has been magnificent to see some of the support already offered from financial donations, gift cards, games, products, local experiences and much more,” and she adds, “We want to ensure that the family can take a big sigh of relief knowing that they don’t have to worry about general day-to-day challenges and can focus on supporting Sebastian’s fight.”

Cromwell Youth Trust also have put together an upcoming ‘Dance for a Cause’ event to support Sebastian. This event is designed for local Year 7 & 8 students to have an enjoyable and fun evening for Sebastian. This will be occurring on the evening of Thursday 29th July from 6:30pm – 8pm and costs $5 with proceeds going back to support Sebastian’s cause.

Sebastian’s Mum, Sam has expressed her thanks to the Cromwell community for their support, saying, “Coming home from a big trip to Dunedin and returning to a home-cooked style meal takes so much pressure off.”

Sebastian says of the support, “I think it is really awesome and I am really thankful.” To book your child into the ‘Dance for a Cause’ event please visit www.cromwellyouthtrust.co.nz
