Community Care Trust Central and Lakes

Community Care Trust is a non-profit charitable trust supporting youth and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autistic spectrum disorders to live as participating and valued members of their communities.

CCT also supports others in our community who may be a good fit to receive our services regardless of their individual needs.

Julie Carruthers, manager of the Central and Lakes Service, says “It’s been a lot of hard but rewarding work establishing their service in the area and support from her colleagues based in the long-established sites of Community Care Trust Dunedin and Invercargill has been invaluable”.

Julie admires the commitment of families in the Central and Lakes region who have just got on with things, many without any additional support over many years. Each person and each community we work with has their own unique needs.

Initially, Julie provided all direct support to people when Community Care Trust first entered the Central and Lakes Region three years ago.

She speaks very highly of the wonderful team of support workers and employment facilitators who are based across the communities of Cromwell, Alexandra, Wanaka and Queenstown.

The rewards of supporting people to live the life they wish is what keeps the Central and Lakes team passionate about their work.

Community Care Trust offers many services, but in short, these are directed by the person and based on the life they are wanting to live. CCT works in partnership with people to identify their interests, hopes and dreams for the future with emphasis on living a more independent life.

The support CCT provides reflects the desire of the person to be included just like anyone else in areas such as employment, community activities or groups of interest, educational courses, life plans and enhancement of quality of life – essentially, whatever the person needs.

Community Care Trust offices can be found in the following communities.

Julie encourages any inquiry or establishment of an appointment time on 027 352 9812 to chat about whether the services CCT provides will assist you or someone you care about in our community.
